In a baseball swing your shoulders hinge more sideways because you are trying to hit a ball at waist height. But in golf the ball sits on the ground. The shoulders must now hinge up and down and not sideways. To hinge your shoulders up and down you can do that right now, put your hands together and hold your arms out and raise and lower them in front of you up and down. Now gradually move your hands and arms to one side (right if right handed and left if your left handed) and repeat. Keep moving your arms and hands farther and farther until you’ve gone 90 degrees to having them straight in front of you. All the while though your lower body’s feet and legs do not move. Just remember the shoulders hinge up and down, not sideways.

The first thing that you need to realize is that your grip is very important, it is your one connection to the club and this is one of the beginner golf swing instruction tips that you should pay attention to. Make sure that your grip pressure is light, like you are holding a baby bird. This will help you to avoid tension in the golf swing.

Welcome, golf is a game of opposites if you try to hit up on the ball you’ll end up topping it and making it roll on the ground conversely if you hit down on the back of the ball it will rise. If you try to pull the ball across your target line it will slice instead, if you try to push the off your target line it will hook.
That’s probably enough useless info for now so just forget it & practice putting instead.
